A Dog Day in D.C.

Chris, Austin and I took a trip into D.C. for a couple hours today to see the William Wegman "Funny - Strange" exhibit at the National Art Gallery. We've decided that it's our new favorite museum (which is saying a lot being that it's replaced the Air & Space Museum for Chris) and that William Wegman is much more an artist than the guy who takes pictures of his ever so patient Weimaraners. Wegman became known to the mainstream eye for his haunting and hilarious photographs of his many pups. We found his others works to be just as fantastic as his photography, a well rounded and extremely talented artist.

Austin got a kick out of the print with the pup with all the Strips of paper wrapped around her, "Strippy," and actually laughed out loud at it. Most of the time we were in the hall housing the Wegman works, Austin provided the sound effects, barking and whining in the way he hears his puppy Hannah doing, very appropriate and as always was recognized for his cuteness by many in the gallery. Hey at least he wasn't screaming like most kids would do. He loves dogs and made it quite obvious to everyone today.

So that was our adventure for the day. We can't wait to go back and see the rest of the museum. Austin was able to get through most of the third floor, we'll save the 1st and 2nd floors for another visit. If any of you ever have an opportunity to visit one of William Wegman's exhibits, I would highly recommend you go, very impressive, brings out lots of emotions, mostly laughter. Wish we could have shared it with you.

Love to all, the Saucier-fam
