Take Me Out to the Ballgame

This is Chris as a guest blogger. Before the season ends, we wanted to take Austin to his first baseball game. We had talked about it a while back and then the idea sort of got lost in the back of our minds as a lot of things do when you have a baby. Our friend Nathan managed to get his hands on 4 tickets to see the Red Sox visit the Orioles last week. I wanted Austin's first game to be a Red Sox game. We invited Matt and Kendra Schlueter along, who had to drive up from VA in a bad rainstorm. As if DC traffic isn't bad enough, the rain didn't help and they got to the game a little late.

Austin really enjoyed it although he was totally overwhelmed by the noise at first. This is by far the biggest event he's been too. He managed to make it to the bottom of the 8th, when he finally fell asleep. He was a big hit with all the people in our section. Best part of all.....the Sox won it in the top of the ninth with a Mark Loretta go-ahead single. Although the Red Sox stand no chance of going anywhere near the playoffs, it was a lot of fun to see them. I'm sure this is the first of many baseball games Austin and I are going to go to.
